I had spent years working in hospitality but had wanted to do Beauty for years.
Finally the time was right to fully focus on what I really love and so I came to Evolution School.
I absolutely love it, it is my happy place.
The atmosphere is so warm and friendly. We are like a family here.
I really feel like I am learning and accomplishing something every single day.

I was actually studying Law at Auckland Uni but my heart just wasn't in it.
I decided to come back home and pursue my real passion in the beauty industry.
Luckily Evolution is in my hometown and I couldn't be happier with my decision!
I have met some amazing people, am learning great skills and am just generally loving my life right now

Before I studied I was a stay at home mum wanting to learn the skills I would need that were essential to implement self-care and self-love in others. I chose to study with Evolution School of Beauty because after I had read the reviews there was reputation of a intimate teaching where the tutors were praised for making time
For those who were more slow at learning.
Studying here has helped me in many ways not only for my career path but my own personal development. After leaving school at 15 years old I wasn’t sure how I would go in a class setting. But through the grace and patience of my tutors I encouraged myself to learn in class and also by studying at home. I passed beauty with excellence and fell pregnant as I continued on with the epilation and massage courses. There was a well thought out plan as to how I would complete my diploma upon the duration of my course the transition and adjustment catered to me in various ways. I graduated 1 week after giving birth to my second child in 2017. Beginning of 2018 I moved back to my home town in Rotorua to work for a well loved tourist attraction at the Polynesian Spa. As a Spa therapist. I love the work that I do and it has been a key for many doors already! I can’t wait to see the possibilities that my future holds :)

My name is Samantha Armstrong and I recently completed my NZ Diploma of Wellness and Relaxation Massage with Evolution School of beauty, massage and spa. In 2016 I moved back to NZ from Australia after having my son, I was at a loss of what I wanted to do with my career but knew I had an amazing opportunity to do something great as I was around my family for support. So I started to think about my study options, I wanted to study something that gave me the skill set to work around my baby, something I could do from home potentially and something I would be able to take anywhere in the world with me. I’ve always been passionate about helping people and taking a holistic approach to do so, I enjoy talking with people and have always found that people warm to me easily so finding something I could do that would incorporate these passions and skills was important too.
After chatting with friends and family my brother in law suggested I look at massage. It was like a penny dropped! Of course, being a massage therapist covers everything that I love and want! I started researching right away what massage courses were available, I found Evolution School of Beauty, Massage and Spa and loved the look of their massage diploma as it included the wellness part also. I reached out to a former student before applying to enquire about her time with the school, how she found the study (it had been a long time since I last opened a book to study!), what the pros and cons were to being a therapist etc. I walked away from that meeting excited as I knew I had made my mind up, I was going back to school to study, good things were going to happen!
My next step was ensuring that I had my parents support with helping out with my son, Jack, with school pick up/drop offs, days when he was sick and time when I needed to study. My parents were incredibly supportive and agreed to help in any way possible.
There was only one thing left to do.. Apply! I applied and was accepted into the course. I was nervous but mostly excited about my next adventure. From the moment I walked into the school the team at Evolution made me feel comfortable and supported with lots of positive encouragement along the way. There was certainly no reason to feel nervous!
The course content was challenging and thorough, we covered so many aspects of massage. Relaxation massage, child and infant, pregnancy, intro to sports massage, onsite chair massage amongst others. We learnt all of the accompanying science as well as touching on many complimentary interventions. It was a completely holistic approach and I loved the not only delivery and content of the course, but the warm supportive environment in which we got to spend the entire year.
I set myself goals at the beginning of the course and continued to reflect back on these throughout the course year, this was to keep me on track and ensure that I was smashed out the study to the best of my ability. A combination of goal setting, amazing tutors, supportive family and friends and a loving partner I completed my NZ Diploma of Wellness and Relaxation Massage with honours, received the ‘Excellence in Massage therapy’ award and ‘Top student’ award for 2018 from Massage New Zealand.
I am so excited for the future and to be able to follow a career path in which I am truly passionate about. I can not wait to get into the industry and continue my journey of helping people. Watch out world!
I will be forever grateful to Lorna Clowes for providing a school for students to learn and to my tutors, Anna Fury for teaching me and Ainzlee Semenoff for all your incredible support. Thank you to everyone at Evolution and Massage NZ for making this possible!

In 2017 I started my journey at Evolution School of Beauty, Massage & Spa studying the Level 4 Beauty Therapy course.
Marjorie was my wonderful tutor at the the time, I learnt so much from her and gained skills which made me love the beauty industry even more.
In 2018 I returned to study Level 5 Spa Therapies at the new campus on John Street and wow did I enjoy this course! It was by far the best course I have ever done. Our class was privileged to have 3 amazing tutors - Kim, Lorna and Anna, who all had unique teaching styles and were all so passionate about what they were teaching that I was constantly inspired and even more eager to learn.
Spa Therapy was right up my alley from the full body treatments to reflexology, hot stone massages to learning about chakras, Reiki and so much more, it all made me feel more intrigued and wanting to do more with my life.
I was so grateful to receive the Excellence in Spa Therapies Award for 2018, it made me feel like my hard work and study had really paid off.
I also studied Level 5 Electrical Epilation with Lichelle. I must say it was a tough course but I continued to study hard and finished well. I'm grateful for the support this lady showed me from day one.
Our lovely Lorna who is the owner of our school gave me the opportunity to interview for a dream job as a Beauty Therapist on board an international cruise liner for Steiner International. My application was successful and I start my training in London on the 28th of January for between 4-6 weeks after which I will be allocated to a ship anywhere around the world.
Dreams really do come true if you set your mind to it!
I just want to thank Yvonne and Ainzlee who have been so supportive over my two years at Evolution and all the help they have given me to make my study and achievements that much easier.
I'm really sad to leave such an amazing bunch of women who have honestly done so much for me and help to make my dreams become a reality.

I chose to enrol with evolution because I really wanted to be educated by an industry focused school. I felt that the evolution tutors had a greater amount of skills and knowledge that I could benefit from to further my career as a beauty therapist.
Being able to make people feel confident and happy within themselves has been a huge drive for me and the beauty industry allows me to achieve this within my clients. And it is an industry that is constantly evolving so every day is different!
Throughout this course I have been able to take my business to the next level. Having a thorough knowledge of the industry standards and emerging trends has let me evaluate where I want to see my business and take it to the next level. My goal is to be self-sufficient and self employed

I have always wanted to learn more about skin care and make up. Starting at evolution school was a complete change after 20yrs in the agriculture industry and it has been SO worth it!
I have really enjoyed working and learning with an awesome bunch of girls, and the improvement in my own skin has been amazing! It’s been great to share my newfound knowledge with friends and family and be able to help them with their skin problems.
I set my goals as wanting to set up a business from home a few days a week and slowly build up a client base while still working. During the course of this year we have been introduced to so many different working possibilities so now I’m thinking --- maybe cruise ships next!

I chose evolution school to study at because I loved the vibe of the atmosphere, the tutors and the way the students were when I came in for my course briefing. I also felt that the stuff we learn and get to do is very thorough, and that the skillset we get to learn is of a much higher calibre.
I love that as therapists we can help people of all ages and stages of life feel loved, pampered and refreshed no matter their lifestyle. Just the feeling where you can look back at a client and say I did that, I helped that person feel good about themselves for that moment in time.
My future goal is to work from home, run my own business while maintaining the mum life! And even upskilling on what I want to specialise in to make sure I’m working at my full potential to ensure my clients are getting the best treatments possible.
