NEW ZEALAND DIPLOMA IN BEAUTY THERAPY LEVEL 5

This level 5 course is designed for those wishing to build on their Certificate in Beauty Therapy Level 4 or ITEC Beauty Specialist Diploma or equivalent work experience or qualifications and enhance their skills with electrical treatments and advanced skincare, bodycare and electrolysis services
Graduates will be awarded the New Zealand Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Level 5) [Ref: 3445]; and can seek employment or further study opportunities.

Jan - Dec 2023 ( dates TBC)
Attendance days 3 days per week 9am - 4pm
Duration : 46 weeks with 6 weeks school holidays
Credits : 120
Face-to-Face & Blended Face to face classroom based 21 hours per week with a strong focus on practical aspects and the theory of the practical.
There is an internal work experience and client management module where students work on the public in a simulated work environment.
A blend of Elearning / workbooks / assignments and case studies 7 hours per week ( equivalent to 1 day)
Home based study 2 hours per week of revision and practice

$9450 ( RPL / CRT available and would reduce the cost if applicable)

The aim of the programme is to provide learners with skills and knowledge to analyse, plan and provide a broad range of higher level advanced beauty services.
The programme is intended for learners who have prior learning or experience in beauty services.
Graduates will be capable of working autonomously or within a clinic environment.
Students will learn professional standards, client care and communication hygiene and sterilisation including infection control within an advanced beauty therapy context.
Students will manage a small client base and develop a business plan for a small business operation.
Whats covered?
Advanced Skincare Services - students will learn advanced skincare services such as cosmeceuticals, peels, specialised masks and electrical equipment as well as in-depth consultation, treatment planning and homecare advice.
Students will learn the safe usage and maintenance of a range of electrical machines used in advanced skincare services
Examples of electrical equipment and advanced skincare that may be covered - LED light therapies, micro-needling, galvanic, ultrasonic, microcurrent, high frequency, faradic plus any new developments as applicable
Body Electrical Services - students will learn a range of electrical body services and consultation and treatment planning. Students will learn safe usage and maintenance of machines.
Manual Body Services - Students will learn a full body massage and a body exfoliation and wrap service and manage a small client base for these manual body services
Advanced Hair Removal Services - Students will learn the blend electrolysis and gain knowledge of advanced hair removal services available in the advanced beauty therapy context.
Advanced Beauty Therapy Science - Students will also learn anatomy, physiology, chemistry and physics in an advanced beauty therapy context and learn how to recognise skin diseases and disorders, normal and abnormal hair growth and healthy eating advice for advanced beauty therapy clients.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES
New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy (Level 4) or equivalent knowledge, skills, work experience or study.
Some RPL ( recognition of prior learning) and / or CRT ( Credit recognition Transfer) may be available. Talk to us about your qualifications and experience.
Any applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 5.5 (with no score below 5 in speaking, reading, writing and listening) or equivalent.
Minimum age at entry is 17 years old
