Why 'failing to plan' is like 'planning to fail'.December already! A great time of year for all therapists and beauty & wellness business owners to cast our minds to the forthcoming year. Before we know it we we will not only be into a new year but a whole new decade! Now that is special! It doesn't matter if you're a student or a graduate or a seasoned beauty or massage therapist, it’s a great time to start reflecting on the year (and the decade!) so far, and thinking about our plans for 2020, our personal development and training and dreams. Where did the time go? Was 2019 a good year for you? Did you achieve everything you dreamed of? Did you make a list at the beginning? Did you tick it off? If you did not - do not fear because our first tip for 2020 is: Tip No.1: Make a plan - put those dreams on paper! A plan is simply our dreams committed to paper. Adding timescales and deadlines turns them into goals. Having a plan is especially important for small salons & clinic business owners. We can think about them all we like, type them up a million times... but it is well documented that when we sit with pen in hand - magic happens. Writing down our dreams and goals in the old-fashioned way actually cements them into our minds and wires them into our brains better, so buy yourself a beautiful notebook, put the kettle on, and start writing. And the most important thing we can do to actually achieve our goals is to do it in the same way the natural world achieves it's deadlines and goals. Wait a minute! The Universe has goals and deadlines?! Yes, of course! the Universe works like clockwork in a perfect 'momentum' - and everything is created by something called 'amplitude'. What the?! I know, it's something we rarely think about! But it's simple. Just imagine a clock. It goes tick tock tick tock (yes, some do just go tick tick tick...!). But whichever it is, it's slow and steady and without fail, and as long as it's energy source (usually battery or plug) continues, we know that 60 ticks or 30 tick tocks later, a minute will have passed. What is achieved? Just time! But the important thing to note is the slow and steady bit. That creates amplitude - the frequency of success. And amplitude is what the Universe responds positively to. It's amplitude that breaks things and breaks through things! - including goals, personal bests and challenging schedules. With the right plan in place and the right steady pace, the sky is your limit! The following story is a great analogy; 'Many moons ago a Mogul general had to cross a river to defeat his enemy. The bridge was wooden and frail and so he ordered his marching troops to fall out of their strong steady march and make their way across the bridge at their own pace. He knew that the amplitude of the steady, strong march would be too much pressure on the bridge and that it could break, and he knew that the erratic pitter patter of footsteps hitting the wood willy nilly would not.' Clever huh? Aim to achieve your personal and business goals through that strong and steady amplitude. You know how we start to get anxious when we put ourselves under too much pressure or feel that we're getting behind? That anxiety and chaos created in our minds is the exact opposite of amplitude's low frequency of success. Make sure you deal with anxiety. You could take our FREE Butt-Kicking Confidence Course by clicking here Tip No.2: Be mindful of your deadlines. Anxiety forms a high frequency (low amplitude) brainwave much like the erratic pitter patter of the footsteps on that bridge story, it's not conducive to break something (other than your sanity!) or of achieving a breakthrough. Plan according to the time you have available and add in a 20% safety net into your deadline dates to limit your stress. And keep your goals flexible. Be prepared to re-set your deadlines to avoid falling into that high frequency anxiety brain. In essence, aim to be the tortoise, not the hare! Tip No.3: Stay calm for best results. We've seen how anxiety is the opposite frequency to the frequency of success. Now hopefully you have added in a 20% safety net to your deadlines to give yourself some breathing space and to avoid becoming anxious. ...But what else will help keep us calm? 'Taking regular steady steps to create momentum towards your goals'. It's the deadlines we set which turn our dreams into goals but it's the way in which we move towards them which will create the momentum we need to succeed. Moving forward with amplitude creates momentum; and momentum creates success. Working on your confidence and understanding how to eliminate high frequency anxieties are two of the most important things you can do for both your personal and business success. Take our FREE Butt-Kicking Confidence Course Tip No.4: Visit your plan regularly. Lists, even with deadlines set are only good so long as you visit them regularly. Get into the habit of looking at your list at least daily. Whether for your salon, clinic or personal life keep your dreams front of mind and stay aware throughout each day of where you are up to in order to achieve them. Remember: that which we give our energy to grows. Even what we try to resist will persist, have you ever noticed? That's because the bad and the good will grow just the same when we give our energy to it (think of what Hitler achieved). So it stands to reason that when we visit our plan we should be calm and progress steadily in order to get positive results. If we have anxious and negative thinking around our plans, that is exactly what we will get - anxious giving results. The energy we put out into the Universe comes back like a boomerang. BOOM! So be excited, be inspired, be confident, be in control. Be steady, be strong. Have amplitude. Build momentum. Achieve your goals. Tip No. 5: Be unrealistic! ‘Being realistic is the most common path to mediocrity’. Will Smith I think he's right! I love Will's quotes. Realistic is just a conditioned state of mind. The boundaries are well conditioned into our minds from childhood and we're well trained to tell ourselves we shouldn't push them. We care about what people say and we worry about whether we might fail by doing so. These things are all in our minds and we do have a choice. We can remain realistic and achieve only what other realistic people do or we can remove the limits of our minds and aim for the stars. Evolution is a process which requires us to do something different. When we keep doing the same things that have always been done we will always achieve the same results. Here at Evolution School we say be an evolutionary thinker. The world certainly needs more of them! And why be just realistic when we can be optimistic? Optimism is a powerful positive frequency which adds to amplitude, the frequency of success. It's very simple, we just need to keep our words positive & hopeful. Especially the chatter of our little inner child which can often be quite pessimistic! Self-talk is the most important influence in the lives of any human being. And we are in control. We can change it from negative to positive, pessimistic to optimistic and by doing so we can literally change the world! ‘There is no limit to what you can achieve in your life except the limits you accept in our own mind' Brian Tracy If you'd like some great tools to shift your mind, be done with your limiting beliefs and build butt-kicking confidence take our FREE course, just click below, sign up for our free membership and the course will be FREE.
